We’ve been looking for a new “home” for our blogs, videos and other types of communication. And this is the new place we’ve found.

We chose the new title Hope & Glory because we wanted to bring Hope at a time on earth when there is so much despair at the bad news.

And we wanted to give God the Glory for it all because He is the God of everything good, righteous, just and glorious!

Psalm 33

This morning, just before we connected our old domain name to this new place, we read some verses in Psalm 33.

“We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.”

That seemed to confirm our new description for our website.

Hope & Glory – for our nation

Roger and I have longed for our nation – the UK – to turn back to God. The UK has a deeply rooted Judaeo Christian heritage and our real hope is in the God who can redeem that, even as it appears to be so eroded.

That erosion has been happening for many centuries of our history but seems to have been accelerated in the last 60 years of our lives. However, we are reminded of Elgar’s uplifting song Land of Hope & Glory which he composed in 1901. The words were written by A.C.Benson in 1902. Here’s the chorus:

Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
            How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
            Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
            God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet,
            God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet!

We are now far from mighty as a nation because we have turned away from the one true God. He is the Mighty One!

But there is a hope that this nation will one day give God the Glory once again as His people seek to honour Him and live in His ways of righteousness, truth, justice, goodness and love.

Finally, a nostalgic rendition of the chorus of Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory by Dame Vera Lynn who became the nation’s esteemed singer of patriotic songs during the Second World War. Only God, who delivered this nation from that War, can ever make our nation “mighty” again.

Preserving an inheritance 

Our message today is – what do you want to see restored and preserved in your nation for the generations to come?

We want beauty to endure. We want the values of love, goodness and righteousness, truth, justice, mercy and kindness to be restored for those who live here after us.

And that is what this site is intended to be about. Restoring hope and giving God the glory.
